When my AMD Athlon64 3200 is idle or actually we were working in BIOS the CPU temp. was 140/141 F is this an okay temp. I have the Abit KV8-MAX3 mobo with a cooling system on it and 3 80mm fand i installed, one blowing out side, one blowing out back, and other in front sucking air in.

Abit KV8-MAX3 mobo
AMD Athlon64 3200
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB
2 Western Digital HD (one 40G 7200rpm ATA) ( and the second 120G 7200rpm SATA)

Start by reading the review lazyman linked for you...and note the system specs:

CPU Cooling: Thermalright SLK948-U with a 80mm Papst fan @ 2700rpm

Case fans: 1x80mm intake at front, 1x80mm outtake in back and 2x120mm outtake in top (running at 7v)

Compare the results when the case has ventilation (fans plugged in) vs. fans unplugged.

You didn't post your case (or motherboard or system or whatever) temps. Let us know what they are.

In other words, it's back to basics. Insure the heatsink is properly installed and insure you have adequate airflow thru the case. If you're gonna use a side window fan and if it's anywhere but at the very top, turn it around so it blows air into the case.

If it's just hot in your house, turn the a/c down and your temps will go down with the thermostat.

"installed, one blowing out side", reverse the side fan to an intake.

Leave one side of you panel off. The onle which you can see all of the internal components. This will drop your temps 2-4 degrees easily. I do it during the summer because gets hot where I'm from.

TECHZAPORT OUT!!!
