Reply: (edit)The hotest Athlons to my knowledge were the athlon thunderbirds, not the XP line. The 2100+ is the fastest Palomino core processor, so it most likely is the hottest XP based on that core. Your temps are fine, but i bet your ears arn't.

Reply: (edit)I tend to rate the 1.4g t-bird and the 2100+ palomino as the same in terms of heat for several reasons. They share the same max wattage of 72W. Amd rated the t-bird with a max temp of 95C and the palomino with 90C but its hard to use that as reason to say the palomino is cooler since amd would have been nuts not reduce the advertised max temp after all the press the t-bird got for its heat. Not to mention nobody thinks 88C is safe for either cpu so there's no practical difference between 90C and 95C. I've got a 1.4g t-bird and a 2000+ palomino right here and they run at about the same temp with the same cooler. Imo the t-bird has the reputation as the hottest cpu because it was so-o-o much hotter than anything that came before it, and the coolers of its time were not up to today's standards so anyone who had one really noticed its temps. Any links showing an actual measured comparison between the two would be interesting to see. Your temps are good.
