I just upgraded a Jetway J530BF 166Mhz Socket7 computer with an AMD500Mhz processor and fan but the bios reports the processor as 2/250Mhz . Why ?

most performance increased to be gain via more RAM as well, but yeah check the jumper settings on the motherboard.
If you can stay calm, while all around you is chaos...then you probably haven't completely understood the seriousness of the situation.

I have found that when putting jumpers on pins in the few older computers I have I put them on in the opposite positions to the manuals . I don't read very well and sure enough I set the jumpers on FS0 and FS1 rather than FS1 and FS2 and now the computer sees the cpu as an AMD K2/500 processor . Thanks for your help .
