Help!
I have an AMD-K6-233. I bought it used and dont have any documentation for it. When i start the comp; after it checks my ram; it says AMD/233 MMX found. I was looking around how i can make it faster, and found a couple of solutions to overclock it. I opened the comp and looked around to find tabels with the jumper settings. I found one for the MHz settings and one for the Multiplier settings.
According to these, my CPU should be running at 66 x 1.5!!!! That are only 99MHz!!! Can that be right?

I touched the CPU after it ran, by taking off the heatsink and the fan, and burned my fingers.

So my Questions are:
1. How do i find out what MainBoard i have?
2. Where can i see ( in Bios or somewhere) how fast my CPU is?
3. Could my CPU be actually running that slow?

Please help
Thx

u dont have to know the mobo or any of those questions u ask for...

just plug in the heat sink and a fan and change the jumper settings to 83mhz fsb or more...

that will jump the mhz...

right now im running 366mhz celeron @ 458mhz
i can do 558 but i would need a good water cooling... at 458 im using a thermal heatsink and a good fan for 30 bucks...

I tried working with the Jumper Settings a little bit, and found out, that the board multiplies by 3.5 if i put the settings for 1.5x !?
on the post its says that it found a 233, if i change it to 75 x 1.5 it says it found a 262, which is 75 x 3.5, too.

So, my question is: Does it really multiply by 3.5, or does it just tell me it did?

yes it multiplies by 3.5

3.5 x 66
3.5 x 75
3.5 x 83
3.5 x 100

multiplier setting for cpu x FSB mhz
thats your formula

A lot of the 233 chips are set up to multiply by 3.5 with the 1.5 jumper
setting...it's telling you the truth - 233 mhz.

with the k6 233, use 83fsb with a 3.0 multiplier.
this will bring it to 250mhz and is pretty stable. DONT FORGET PROPER COOLING :)
