Hey guys,
My dad bought this new computer that is Windows Media Center and it has all that fancy stuff, including the tv signal receiver that you could watch tv on your PC. So, I have decided to get that card and put it on my regular XP pro, but now I was wondering if I should swap the processors out too?
His is AMD 3500 and mine is AMD3200... do you guys think that it is a good idea, will I see any performance boost? If not I don't want to go through all that headache...

And please tell me that it is immoral, because I don't care....

Thanks...

Killer

Before you begin the swapping on the CPU, you need to find out what CPU socket both has... If your CPU is an Athlon XP 3200+ socket A and your dad owns an Athlon 64 3500+ socket 754, then you can't physically swap the processors. But if both is socket754 then is fine... Also your AMD 3200 could also be socket 939 and your dad has socket 754, so I would find that out before doing the swapping. As far as performance goes, I don't think you will even see any noticable gains unless you are benchmarking....

swaping out your dads processor without him knowing about it? That's not only immoral, but that's asking for a butt kicking by your dad. I know I would if my son did that to me.

Nothing like voiding the warranty on a brand new PC. Judging from your past posts, you're bound to screw something up...leave it be!

If you want 3500+ speed, just overclock your 3200+ by 200MHz & you'll have a 3500+...& if you wanna watch TV, grab a seat on the couch.

Leave dad's new PC alone!
