Is there a jumper on your motherboard that can control ur CPU FSB?? Correct way should be 200x10.5 = 2100Mhz.. Try read your motherboard's manual first and look for that jumper... If not, try 133Mhz/166Mhz then 200Mhz FSB setting... Make sure you RAM is DDR400... If your RAM is DDR266, then you may want to change the CPU:Memory to 3:2 so your FSB run at 400Mhz, RAM run at 266Mhz...

TMP-Man

Asus A7V classic rev 1.05
Athlon XP 2100+ @ 130x17 = 2209Mhz 1.81v
768MB PC133 RAM @ 130Mhz 2-2-2
40GB 540RPM + 120GB 7200RPM HD
128MB Radeon 9500 mod 9700 @ 360/585

Your board supports up to 333FSB CPUs only! Your 3000+ is the 400FSB version...so at the very best, it will run at 1750MHz (10.5 x 166MHz).

Did you configure the FSB jumpers on your motherboard? Check your manual, page 13.

Here's the jumper config for 166MHz (333FSB):

FSB_SEL0 - place jumper cap on pins 2-3
FSB_SEL1 - OPEN (no jumper cap)
FSB_SEL2 - place jumper cap on pins 1-2

Did you even look at your manual? The jumpers aren't even close to the proccessor & they should be easy to get at...they're near the end of the 2 uppermost PCI slots, beneath the IDE connectors

thanks for the info in a couple of days there is another PC discount and im thinking of buing a new mobo and maybe a new processor (maybe a 64-bit) but my mate told me that wouldnt be smart cause there arent any 64-bit games yet he said it would take several years and by then i could buy a better processor for less the money what do you think?

thanks again

Dude, I gave you info! The jumpers are numbered on the board & I told you where they're located. All you have to do is open the case, find them, & change them! I can't believe you wanna buy an entire new PC simply becuase this one is configured incorrectly. Just fix it!

FSB_SEL0 - place jumper cap on pins 2-3
FSB_SEL1 - OPEN (no jumper cap)
FSB_SEL2 - place jumper cap on pins 1-2

Go to this site & download the manual...scroll to the bottom of the list to find your model number:

http://www.asrock.com/support/index_manual.htm

And your "mate" obviously knows about as much about PCs as you do. The Athlon64 technology is far more advanced than the AthlonXP...there's really no comparison, the A64 is superior! And you don't need 64-bit software to run one.
