Hello, I was told that the AMD XP 3000 would work with a ECS L7S7A2, however I received the CPU today, and it kept freezing on the Windows XP load screen. Also, instead of BIOS displaying AMD XP 3000+ as the CPU, it displayed 2200+ I reseted the BIOS twice but it still wouldnt update. I am assuming that perhaps I need to adjust jumpers or something? Please help. Thanks
That's odd...the multiplier on the 3000+/333FSB CPU is 13.0, so even at 133mhz/266FSB, your CPU should be recognized as a 2100+
You'd need at least PC2700 RAM to be able to run at 166mhz/333FSB though. You don't mention what RAM you have, but PC2100 won't cut it...if that's what you have, try running "async"...RAM at 266FSB, CPU at 333FSB

Its weird but its working now. However even with my watercooling my temps are reaching 70C. I have the PC4100 RAM.
IMO, watercooling is a waste of money...it's problematic, requires maintenance, & isn't much better than a decent aircooling setup...did I mention expensive? LOL!
If your temp is being reported that high & you're not having stability problems, I'd suspect a temp reporting error. A BIOS update may correct it
