AMD XP 2000 running only at 1250mhz is my ram slowing it down its old pc100mhz (2) 54 and (1) 128 should I get pc133????

I change the bus speed to 133 with the jumper on the board so when the computer boots up it says its a AMD XP 2000+ but just after Windows XP loads the computer restarts. Some people have been telling me that I need 133mhz ram not 100mhz like what I am using

what vcore are you putting in to the cpu i cant be the ram but if you have pc133 it would be faster but is the a thing in the bios that says your ram speed? as long as it says ~100mhz you fine

pc133 vs pc100 memory isn't a problem. The problem is that you probably have a motherbaord with a kt133 chipset on it and they cannot run at 133mhz unless you are lucky and got one that works as advertised.
Or if that is not a kt133 board, many older boards are stable at 100 but not 133 due to timing errors betwen the northbridge and memory. Imo this problem happens a lot more when using sdram (which you have) than ddr.

i found that when i got this prob with restarting or freezing just before startup it was more to do with the make of the memory than being pc133 or pc100 bearing in mind it was nearly always when running windiws xp

AMD motherboards are designed to run at 100, 133 and some of the latest now run at 166mhz FSB. This is to accomodate the various AMD processors. Most motherboards come with the FSB jumper set to 100mhz by default. This is to prevent problems when you install a CPU designed for the 100mhz FSB. If the FSB is set to 133mhz on a CPU designed for 100mhz, in most cases the system will not boot. Faster FSB processors will run fine at the slower FSB speeds. The Athlon XP 2000+ CPU uses a 12.5 multiplier and is designed to run at 1.67ghz internally. This equates to 12.5 x 133mhz.
The FSB jumper (or the FSB setting in the BIOS, depending upon how the motherboard is setup) needs to be set to 133mhz.
Here Is my "Rant" about this:
This is an extremely commom problem. I see people post about this almost every day. I just wish more people would start using the search functions in discussion groups before they post. I have not looked/counted, but I am absolutely sure I can find at least ten different posts about the 100/133mhz FSB problem in this discussion group alone.

what motherboard?
are there actually mobo's out there that still run pc 133/100 memory with the new xp chips?god knows why you would want that if they do exist
