Better for what? Speed? Stability? Performance? Reliability? Overclockability? Price? Value? What will you be doing on your computer?

Most ppl here will agree that AMD is better, or should I say more desirable. AMD is more versatile for overclocking, if that interests you. It's cheaper, but you've stated that price doesn't concern you....I myself have a xp1900 and I like it, granted it runs at about 1.6 Ghz vs the P4 at 1.8 BUT!!! and heres the big thing
AMD chips do MORE WORK PER CLOCK CYCLE than Intel...Speed is really not relevant if it's not doing as much per clock cycle....
go with AMD...I would =)

I have two computers, one with a Athlon XP 1900+ and the other with a P4 1.8GHZ.
Both have the same 40GB Hard drives, same GeForce2 MX200, same power supply, same OS, same optical drives and the same 512MB RAM.I use the P4 for audio editing, MP3 encoding, video editing, and making CD's.
I use the Athlon for the internet, and gaming.
I see NO real difference in speed when it comes to other apps. But my Athlon can't seem to handle multimedia without slowing down other than gaming, and Internet. My P4 is slow when browsing the internet. As for gaming, I see no difference between the two. So neither one is any better, they both have thier up's and down's. It all depends on what YOU do & need.

I quess they are learning that if they start a flame war the whole thread goes bye bye, it's nice to see people respond without resorting to the name calling and my ball is bigger than yours crap.
