Comment:
After doing some research of my own on this subject, I found there is a lot of misinformation on the internet about whether Windows XP Home edition supports AMD 64 X2 dual core processors. Many Windows XP Home users are being led to believe that before they can use dual core, they must shell out more money to upgrade to Windows XP Professional first.

The information from AMD clears this up once and for all. Yes, Windows XP Home edition supports AMD 64 X2 dual core.

Here is the link.

Happy X2 upgrading, I'm getting my CPU this week :)

Yes, even MS-DOS will run, but you need the software to take advantage of the processing power.

"even MS-DOS will run"

... riiiight....

I'm glad the information in the link from AMD above can be checked by anyone who wants to know if their OS will support AMD 64 X2.

That way they can avoid being misinformed or ripped off, by charlatans or software salespeople.

The "standard" A64 is the way to go at this time...the X2 should be reserved for a future upgrade. Besides, the AMD format will be changing very soon & everyone will be jumping ship & climbing aboard the socket M2 A64 with DDR2 support, so we can expect another price drop on S939 CPUs in the not to distant future
