Can someone tell me about the amd/intel decision for cpu? Because what im hearing is taht amd is faster/cheaper than intel but ive never seen like a 3.0ghz amd processor... so is an amd 2.0ghz cpu supposedly faster than a 2.0 ghz intel proccesor? And also I havent seen many amd cpus with high FSB, is ee a lot of intel 800mhz cous and no amd 800mhz cpus...

Which one is better basically haha?

They are both superb. Its almost sad they have to compete.

Intel has the masses attention and caters to them, amd has enthusiasts attention and caters to them. Neither is better. Advertised speeds are meaningless. Go with whoever is unlocked.

Like i said on some post

"It really depends. Why? coz' not all processors, even though they have the same freq., have the same transistors. They might use high or low quality transistors on, but I guess we'll never know. Furthermore, eventhough they add many features, the processor might not utilize it due to many reasons, and one is in the above statement."

The statement above is true, but I think AMD is leading. Why? 'coz Intel is already imitating AMD's cpu, they are also building a 64-bit processor.

My question is, why should intel build a 64-bit processor? 'coz AMD is leading very fast, and Intel can't cope up.

I've always thought Intel builds more stable, reliable cpu's, and AMD pushes there's a bit further to keep up, but in the end at a lower price.

Right now, in my opinion, the best bang for the buck CPU out there is the 2500+.

AMD can beat up your Grandma!!!
Seriously thou, I just built a
system with a $99 Fry's mobo/cpu
combo special (DFI mobo/2500+ boxed)
overclocked it to 200FSB (3200+ speed)
before even installing the OS.
I can't belive how fast programs
load and the reboot time, forgetaboutit.
You can't beat that with an Intel stick!!!
The only intel system i've owned was the
1st one i bought in 1993/4 pentium 90,
and it had the floating point problem!!!

Right now, I'd happily own a P4 3ghz or an Amd 3000XP.

Like comparing a Ferrari with a Lambourghini. Happy with either now, they're both very fast.
