"The next few weeks, Muzny said, will be decided on availability of parts, conceding, "Conroe is where it is at the top end...That's great. How many sales does that account for?"
I think AMD just needs to take a back seat to intel for a year or two and design something that will really kick, instead of trying to throw out a bunch of small quick fixes like the 4x4.
Although I wouldn't mind putting 2 quad-cores on a dual socket system. My video editing times would cut more then half and it would prob smoke my current dual core system in video editing.
I think that 4x4 is a terrible idea, and I also think quad SLI is a terrible idea. To be honest SLI still dosent impress me in the slightest. I think that 4x4 is a really bad idea, you pay for two expensive dual core CPU's which can be outperformed by an Intel CPU for a lower price, you then put it in your expensive motherboard and get your machine going. Sure you have a fast computer.. but someone with a good Core2 duo decides to overclock their system and its better than yours, was half the price, runs cooler and creates a smaller electricty bill.
I think having more than 1 dual core CPU in a home system is stupid and needlessly expensive, I'm going to be surprised if theese systems manage to perform well and dont need a 1KW power supply. 2 dual core CPU's and quad SLI: expensive and no bang-for-your-buck. Also due sometime next year, stop wasting time on 4x4 and concentrate on making something that will blow intel out of the water.
