You guys think it's a good idea that Amd is buying Ati? Will ati stop making graphics cards and only make intergrated chipsets? I hope not I hope amd lets ati make both intergrated and acual graphics cards after the purchase that way nvidia dosen't take over lol. Whats your guy's opinion on this?
"is buying" ?? Try bought. ATI has been property of AMD for quite some time now. Heres more recent news, Dual Core Cpu's are now available...lol. As far as video-cards are concerned, Think better more powerful cards with bulit in physics processing, and overall better understanding of the CPU to GPU relation, more efficient ways of cooperation between the two like a newly married couple.

AMD stated that they are keeping ATI's name and ATI will continue to make graphic cards. The only thing that is going to change is that ATI will no longer be making motherboards for Intel chipsets.
There is hints that within the next couple of years AMD will start to intergrate ATI's set of 3D instructions into AMD processors.
A big reason why AMD bought ATI is because they wanted to go after Intel's gpu market, considering that Intel is worlds largest provider gpu electronics from GPS systems to DVD players. AMD want to take a chunk out of Intels market in that section.
