I've been using an Emachine 366c with an AMD K6-2 500mhz CPU,192MB RAM,32MB Geforce2 and upon playing simple games(266mhz requirement types) my screen freezes and pauses really bad.I ran the AIDA32 system inspector and saw under CPU that the L2 cache in not present and AIDA says it can be a problem.Do you think the slow graphics is related to this??? I'll post a copy of what AIDA32 showed me below:

CPU #1 1 %Problems & Suggestions:
Problem No CPU L2 cache found. This may cause performance penalty.

No. Just means if you had L2 your machine would be slightly faster. I doubt if you could tell the difference.
What games? Looks like a pretty solid old machine.

Your machine would be a lot faster with L2 cache. Make sure it is enabled in your bios. There may not be any L2 cache in your machine, but check anyway.
If you are trying to run 3D games you can forget it. Also, your video card is probably more than that K6 can handle.

I also have an Emachine 366c with an AMD K6-2 500mhz CPU and AIDA32 reports there is no L2 cache although it is enabled. You can go into the bios and under advanced settings check the external cache to see if it is enabled, but more than likely it is.

"If you are trying to run 3D games you can forget it. Also, your video card is probably more than that K6 can handle."
Why do you think this? I have an AMD500mhz K6-2 CPU system with 320MB RAM, GeForce2 32MB card and can run most games from 2000/2001 fine including many 3D games at perfect speeds.
I have tried my system before with L2 turned off in the BIOS and it ran like a 486. Enabling this will definitely speed things up.

The K6/2 has no on-chip L2 cache, so it's not surprising that under the CPU properties, it says there's no L2 cache present. It's on the motherboard if there is any, and there should be (if not, like Alex said, it will run like a 486). The motherboard that I have running a K6/2 can only cache (L2) the first 128 Meg of RAM with the 1 meg of L2 cache it has. It would cache double that with 2 meg. So, you may have the same problem above 128 meg even if you cache is enabled. I downgraded mine to 128 because of this limitation. I could definitely tell the difference.

redsunn,
See if you can identify the motherboard on your machine. Write down every number you can find includind the FCC number and post back. No way I'd give up on this.
C_Legend is correct. There is no L2 cache on a K6/2 and I should have picked up on the fact that e-machines likely used a lower end motherboard w/o bells and whistles. Sorry about that. L2 on the motherboard is a kick in the butt.

I have some experience with these old eTowers. The motherboard has 512K L2 on it and it only caches 128MB of RAM. Reducing the memory to 128MB will probably help some. Also, check that the memory bus is set for 100MHz, not 66. Most eTowers shipped with the memory set for 66, even on systems with a 100MHz FSB.
The last post is absolutely correct. If you want more speed, get a K6-2+ or K6-III+. You can run one of these at up to 600MHz and roughly double the speed of your K6-2/500. As it happens, I sell these chips ;)
To get back to the original post, it sounds like you have some other problem. You should be able to run a game with 266 requirements without a problem on the K6-2/500. If you haven't resolved this, email me and I'll try to help.

Ability:
I have tried just about everything to try to play this game correctly(Delta Force 2).As someone said that the K6-2 500mhz may not be able to handle the Geforce2(32MB).I've double and triple checked all the jumpers too but still no luck. The external cache in enabled, fsb is at 100mhz,re-installed Geforce drivers,re-installed the game and still nada!BUT: if the memory I'm using is not double sided,non-ecc RAM,will that make the huge difference in the graphics department???
As always, thanks in advance to all!!!!!!
