I'm looking at getting a super socket 7 motherboard which supports CPU voltages of 2.2/2.8/2.9/3.2/3.3/3.5v and bus speeds of 60/66/68/75/83/100Mhz. The CPU I want to use with this board is an AMD K6-2/550, it's core voltage is 2.3v, will it work? if not, will an AMD K6-2/533 (2.2v) with an external clock speed of 97Mhz work?
otherwise, which K6-2 CPU is the best for this board?
specs of all K6 CPUs are available at:

I didn’t research any of the boards listed in your URL. It looks like there are many choices that would support the K6-2/533 and 550MHz. I’d probably go with one of the ASUS boards.

I have a Tyan1590S. It supports these CPUs according to Tyan and has bee a very reliable MOBO. The fastest CPU I’ve run has been a K6-III 450MHz though.

Do you have a CPU and are you looking for a home for it? The Athlon and Athlon XPs will literally blow the doors any computer with a K6-II CPU! If you already have a Socket 7 MOBO, I could see trying to pick up the fastest CPU it will support (used) but the cheapest K6-550 on Price Watch is $64 and a 1.2GHz Duron is only $57.

I have the Shuttle Spacewalker Hot591P mobo. Very reliable. Lived through many short circuits and drops. :)

I got the manual for the Shuttle MOBO above and it looks like a very nice board and would be easy to configure. I tried to see how much it would cost and can’t find it listed with Price Watch or Google. I then tried to get a price for the Tyan 1590S and couldn’t find a price for it either!
