AMD Duron 1000 mhz not booting

I just switched my amd duron from 800 mhz to 1000 mhz and I have an Asus A7V motherboard. When booting it gets to the point where it lists all the irqs and such(point right before it loads the os i guess). At that point all I can do his it the reset key(ctrl + alt + delete wont work there). I put my 800mhz back in to see if that was the problem, but it booted perfectly.
It certainly sounds like a bum 1 gig duron! I am about to switch from a 1.2 gig duron to a 1.1 gig Athlon. I hope I don't run into the same problem. My mobo is a Gigabyte GA-7IXEH-F2 (I think, on the 2 part. LOL)
I hope someone with experience with your mobo has a better idea (and solution).

Is your MOBO jumpered correctly for the 1000MHz Duron?
Addendum: (whew!) got things put in and No problems. (after I got the power switch on mobo, on BOTH jumper pins. LOL)
That's one thing you can take from my experience: make sure all things are connected, properly. Particularly when you have to remove the motherboard to change cpus.

I am having the same problem/same board/same proc. Had 600 OC'd to 850, ran fine. Put in 1G with all the jumper changes...won't boot. Were you ever able to get this to work?
Summary: what's the normal operating temperature for an AMD DURON 1000 CPU? the CMOS setup program shows the CPU tempurature at 40°C (104°F), is this normal or too hot? ...
Summary: First off pardon my ignorance in oc'ing but though I've used comps for many years this is my first thought to OC one. It might also be that this machine is currently underclocked by poor setup (me). I...
