This should be easy.....

I have a 1600 AMD, but if run it over 1550MHz, the system reboots (with no error messages)even when its not under any strain.
The CPU temp never gets over 54*C

What am I doing wrong ?

ANY ideas, sugestions would be apreciated. Thanks.

If you have an Athlon XP 1600, your CPU should clock at 1.4GHz.

You have overclocked it to 1.55GHz and it won’t take any more.

you are driving yourself crazy dude, not amd

you are overclocking it too much. what do you expect. what mobo you have. try overclocking it in increments instead of that giant leap to 1.55ghz. and you better have good (no excellent) cooling to run that 1600 like a 1800

Glad I made you laugh...

but am I stupid for asking, why is it called an athlon 1600 if only runs at 1400??

1400 ? I feel ripped off.

Know anyone who wants a secondhand athlon 1600....

Go to the AMD site and they will explain how they name their CPUs.

It will beat a Pentium 4 1600mhz in most software tests.

That is why it's named 1600.

If Intel processors would do more work per clock cycle then i might consider one. That (we have the fastest mhz so we must be better) doesnt go well with me. Its how hard it works doing each clock cycle that I like the most.
