Hi,

I'm trying to configure my new computer. I have ASUS-A7V333 mobo with Athlon XP 2000+ on it and I just installed 512Mb stick of Corsair XMS PC2700. Question: What bus speed do I have to set for Athlon XP 2000+ and what clock multiplier should I leave it on?

I set it to 133 as I was recommended and the mobo gave me "System failed CPU test" error, when I set it to 100 it said [for those who don't know ASUS A7V333 doesn't beep but talks :)] "System failed due to over-clocking". After I set it do default [all jumpers down] it booted up perfectly and then the bios poped out saying that the computer "hunged" due to incorrect bus clock, and it set my clock multiplier to 12.5. So are these settings optimal for my system, with default bus clock and clock multiplier of 12.5? I really don't want to over-clock my CPU, but yet I don't want to under-power it either.

Please help me out.

Yes. 12.5 x 133mhz is correct (1.67 ghz)

Also, make sure you have your RAM set to 166 mhz bus (2 x 166 = 332mhz DDR333 (PC2700)

I'm having exactly the same problem, but there don't seem to be any motherboard settings which allow you to control the RAM BUS speed. My system allows an absolute maximum of 12.5 multiplier with 117 MHz FSB before the M/board reports CPU overclocking.

I have;
ASUS A7V333
Athlon XP 2000+
256MB DDR RAM (Kingston Valueram)

Any suggestions please?

Damn will you people read your manuals, that came with the motherboards.

SET xxx xxxxxxx xx xxxxxxxxxx/xxxxxxx. Next xxx xxx xxxxxxx xx xxxxxxx/xxxx xxxxx xx xxxxxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx xx xxxxxxx. Then xxx xx "AUTO" xxxxx, xxxxx xxx xxxxx. Go to xxx xxxx xxx xxxxxxxx xxx xxx enter. Set xxx xx "xx XXX". Then hit F10 to Save and Exit.

Q.E.D

I had typed out all the settings and information you would need. Then I thought about it and decided that you would not appriciate the effort of someone doing it for you.

GO READ YOUR MANUAL, IT IS ALL THERE!

I don't really know if this is the best setup but I have just purchased the same processor and mobo and I was told to set the multiplier to 12.5, the FSB to 133 and the memory ratio to 4:5 (this sets the RAM bus to 166)

Hope this helps.

I have an ASUS a7v333 MOBO and an AMD XP 2100+ processor, the mobo has a manual setting and auto settings if you dont want to overclock just set all to auto. It is all pretty obvious, i have 512 MB of ram and am overclocked from 1.733 stock to 1.8299 Mhz with out unlocking it and am having no problems. my FSB is at 141x34 and a multi of 13 i have not messed with the multiplyer due to the fact that i have not yet unlocked the processor. Also i forgot to mention that the temp is around 59C on average with NO thermal paste other than what came with the STOCK HEAT SINK AND FAN that came with the cpu from AMD. By the way stop messing with that jumper s---, that is just a waist of time set the motherboard to jumper free and do it ALL IN THE BIOS!!! much easier and less bulls---.

Also, unless you've unlocked your CPU, it doesn't matter what you set your multplier at, it will only recognize the locked setting for your CPU...in this case 12.5x
