For some reason my Athlon 2500 Barton is running at 1.1GHz instead of 1.833 according to dxdiag and 3DMark03. On the BIOS, it shows up as a 2500 with a 166FSB and a multiplier of 11. Can anybody please tell me how to get it to run at the 1.8GHz? Thanks!

11 x 100mhz (200FSB) = 1100mhz
11 x 166mhz (333FSB) = 1833mhz
Sounds like your FSB is set to 100mhz instead of 166mhz. You didn't mention your board make/model, but there may be a jumper that has to be changed to enable the FSB settings of 266/333/400

I believe that the 1.1 GHz is a default setting when something with the setup is improper. I also have a barton 2500+ and when i was testing it for overclocking abilities, invalid setups (such as invalid multipliers) would cause it to run at 1.1 GHz exactly. Also, invalid memory settings caused the same thing. I would doublecheck your bios settings and if necessary, reset them to defaults.

Thanks for the input. I have a KD7A motherboard, but I haven't seen any jumpers or anything in the manual that shows how to adjust the FSB. I've already tried resetting the BIOS, but it's still showing as 1.1GHz.

Simple dude..
go into your bios setup..
And i cant remember exactly what section it is in..
But there is an option where you can change the FSB. (i think its in the CPU/PNP hardware setup or something like that, not entirely sure). it will have something like 100/100, change that to 133/133 or 166/166.. that should work. i had the same problem.regards.

I suggest you take the time to read your manual...the section about BIOS settings...
Under the Advanced Chipset Features heading, select CPU & PCI Bus Control, then hit the ENTER key...

Thanks everyone. All I had to do was change the BIOS from auto detect to "user defined." I just figured since all the settings in the BIOS were right, it would run at the correct speed. It's running at 1.8GHz now. Thank you all for your help!
