Ok so, I am going to be getting a really nice laptop to last me a while, and I'm tryin to figure which processor I should get. AMD 64 or XP, I was told that there is no reason to get the 64 cuz nothin needs it, but I was also told that some programs and games won't even work on a 64 bit processor!! So any help on what should be done here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The Athlon64 supports all the XP instructions (plus the P4's SSE2) and actually runs 32-bit code faster than the XP. 64 bit support is an added bonus for people like me who run Linux or BSD, or Windows users willing to upgrade when 64-bit becomes mainstream.

Thanks a lot! So what your sayin then is that every program will run on a 64 normally, all 32 bit will run with no problem, Cause I was told differently. But what your sayin then is it will all run fine?

My brother runs 32-bit Windows XP on his Athlon64 and hasn't had any trouble with MS Office, Diablo II, Sims 2, Mozilla Firefox, or anything else. He did, however, have trouble in 64-bit Windows XP.
