ok guys, thanks for the fast response.

now, here comes another question :-) currently 9600xt is with amd and 9550 with the celeron, both systems are installed with ati's 7.1 catalyst driver. can i just swap the cards? or do i have to uninstall the drivers and reinstall them ?

I don't know where 'JiffyTech Services' came from, but so far, I'm not impressed. Disliking a CPU is NOT a viable reason.

Your AXP system is a good one, but it's outdated. The Celeron D is a 64-bit CPU & should run faster, even with the crappy ECS/VIA based board.

For best performance, you should run the CPU:DRAM ratio at 1:1. That means that you should underclock your DDR2-667 RAM to match the FSB speed. In other words, with your CPU at it's default FSB setting of 133MHz (533FSB), your RAM should also run at 133MHz (DDR2-266). Since you've overclocked the FSB to approx 162MHz, your RAM should also run at 162MHz. There's no point running the RAM at a faster bus speed than the CPU.

"both systems are installed with ati's 7.1 catalyst driver. can i just swap the cards? or do i have to uninstall the drivers and reinstall them ?"

Personally, I would uninstall Catalyst v7.1, swap the cards, & install the newest Catalyst driver v7.5.

you're right, jam. the setting is currently at 21 x 162mhz. how do i "unlock" my cpu? which setting should i change? also, after unlocking it, i'll just have to make adjustment with my current setting (21 x 162mhz) or do i have to lower it first? please guide me if you can. if you need to take a look at the manual, here's it :

next, i'm kinda reluctant to update ati's driver, have a look at their review here and you'll know what i mean :

version 7.1 seem to be the best drive till date.
