Hi my second post.
let me just say i dint overclock the CPU in any way.
this problem is related to a AMD 2800+ barton.
i bought a Amd Air Cool Copper Base 8cm Fan Ultra Lo-noise, becuase the fan that came with the CPU is a bit noizy.
after installing the CPU fan i switch on the computer and it was fine a minute later it switch it self off. i restarted again and same thing happen.
on the 3rd time i check the BIOS and notice the CPU heat was 80c. i turn off the PC and install replace the CPU fan with the original.
i turn on the PC with the original CPU fan, and this time i get a message saying, there was a problem on the last time i switch off.
and i get options like
safe mode with commd or network
last good known config blabla
start windows normally .
when i choose any of this options the pc restarts and goes back to the same options, and nothing else i can only get to the BIOS or this same options!everthing else on the Computer is working without a problem, is just the CPU any ideas?
i am running a older CPU that i had for a while AMD 2100+ and i havent got a problem.
so the Motherboard, GFX Card Memory, Hard drive are all working.
I made another post about Overclocking the 2100+ because i need more speed and cant buy another CPU for now.
Please leave your Conclusions about the AMD 2800+, whats the problem and can i run it again? Thanks for helping

Your bios needs reconfiguring.
Go into bios when you bootup
If your bios recognises the 2800+
Press F10(usually) to save the configuration and exit. You will probably get the windows options again.
Start normally
Hope this helps?

It sounds like the second hsf you put on was installed incorrectly or had a fan malfunction and it overheated the cpu.
Sorry man but your 2800 may be damaged.
huh?

"If it went to 80C it may be toast"
Maybe, maybe not. I just "repaired" a computer with a similar overheating problem with a 2800+. The heatsink was installed backwards & the "builder" used an entire tube of thermal paste...lol. I cleaned the heatsink & CPU, applied the proper amount of paste, & reversed the HSF. It booted up & settled in at about 45C at idle...not fantastic, but it was a cheap HSF. I asked why he didn't use the stock one & he said he was told they're no good. I replied that using an entire tube of grease for a single CPU & then installing the HSF backwards isn't good either. He wasn't happy with my comment, but he was happy that the computer was fixed.....

i was thinking if the CPU was tosted, whould the bios Load? could any one explain, i would think is a CPU is damage is like not been there so the Computer should not show me anything, like you start the computer without a CPU install, or i am Wrong????
It Recognises the CPU is just the loops that keep on going, I even lower the CPU to 1667MHZ but still nothing, the Bios CPU Heat Control says its 40c, with the fan that came original with the AMD 2800+.
it reported 80c On the Other New CPU fan not the original CPU Fan, so it doest get confusing.
""Press F10(usually) to save the configuration and exit.

I do that but i always get the options again about safe boot and start normally stuff.

I have a XP2800+ Tbred. When I first got it 2 years ago Windows became corrupted and kept crashing and restarting. I had to reformat and reinstall to get things stable again.
BTW, my BIOS CPU temperature got to 78C six months ago after I made a number of additions to the system. I had to get a better CPU cooler to get the temperatures down again.

""""Windows became corrupted and kept crashing and restarting. I had to reformat and reinstall to get things stable again""""
Hi i was thinking about that, but if Windows was Corrupted with the 2800+ it should be Corrupted with the 2100+ as well or no?
all i done as remove the 2800+ and put my old 2100+ no windows reinstall and everything works great.
I just cant understand if the 2800+ is burn why does the Computer gives me the options, i am sure it should just show a black screen, like there was no CPU on the Slot.
Any more ideas?
Many Thanks(BodyBag You Know it Makes Sense)

I know nothing but will guess.. could it be a power supply issue? Does a heavier CPU even effect that?

Stupid question but, have you actually plugged the fan in? i ask because sometimes the most simplest things are overlooked, did you remove all thermal paste from the processor and reapply a paper thin layer of thermal paste to the processor before putting the heatsink on?

Hi RockyBalboa

Yes i made sure the fan was on, and did rotate.
yes i did put some thermal paste on the cpu plus the heatsink had its own past already.
hope this asnwers will clear a bit more.
and about the power supply i used 2 diff ones and none worked with the 2800+ 350w and a 400w but both PSU work with the 2100+.
