i think thats pretty high, i think you
should get a different fan, coz that one
isnt really doing much for you, i have an
AMD Barton 2500+ with a thermaltake fan and
the temp is about 37C - 40C idle, and when
im playing a game like natural selection or
world of warcraft it goes up to about 41C -
44C, the highest my cpu ever went was about
46C, but maybe thats because i have 7 fans
on the case.. so check your ventilation
also, but to me i think 60C is pretty high

xenoF,

Are you including the CPU fan, chipset fan, PSU fan, & video card fan in that count? or are you saying you have 7 case fans? If it's case fans, 7 is overkill...

qustions02,

Before running out & buying a new HSF, double check that you installed the stock one correctly. A common mistake is to mount it backwards. Did you use the thermal pad that came on the heatsink or did you remove it & apply paste? If you used the pad, did you peel off the protective film? If you applied paste, did you do it correctly - a rice sized dabbed spread thinly over the CPU core?

How many case fans do you have? What is your system temp?

There's also the possiblity that your temps aren't being reported accurately. Are you having any problems - freezing up, blue screens?

if i include my PSU fan, CPU fan, video card fan and chipset fan that would make 11 fans all in all.. lol.. the guy who sold me the case gave me like 8 fans to go with it.. so i thought eh what the hell, slap'em all in there. is it a bad thing?

How do you have all those fans arranged? I usually install 2 or 3 case fans...I've never seen any reason to add more than that. It all depends on the case & what mounting provisions it has, but generally a front intake & rear exhaust is all that's needed. The PSU also acts as an exhaust & if the side panel has a mounting hole, it should be an intake fan.

Where did you put the other 5 fans? your rig must be noisy as hell...lol!

hahaha yeah thats what i thought too when i put in all those fans.. but to my surprise it wasnt really that noisy.. you can notice it when i dont have music on or the tv on.. but other than that i dont really notice it, but if you we wondering what kind of case i had i have this one http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?description=11-156-135&DEPA=0
and heres my set up, 2 fans in the back blowing out air, 1 fan on the side panel blowing in air, then 4 fans on the front also blowing in air, haha i figure just put a crap load of'em since my friend gave me the 8 free fans, their thermaltake so maybe thats why its not that noisy? but yea thats my case! also might i add i took out the side panel logo of that case and put a chrome counter strike logo on it.. and i added an LED fan on the side and a red halogen light.. looks pretty sick! haha >=]

thanks for the comments folks.
jam- i used the thermal pad that came with the fan and yes i did peel the protective film. the sys temp is around 35-40 deg c. these temps are being reported by the asus utility that came along with the mobo (by the way i have an asus a7v400-mx) and i havent overclocked it or anything.
havent had any probs like freezing or restarting and have the sys running for 4-5 hours cont without any problems. so could it be that the temp utility is a little off??

qustions02,

Unless your average room temp is 30C (86F), a system temp of 35-40C seems high. If you can bring that down, your CPU temp should drop as well. How many case fans do you have & how are they arranged?

You may wanna check the BIOS to make sure it agrees with the readings you're getting from Asus Probe

Do you have a place to mount another fan in the lower front of the case? If so, install an intake fan to bring fresh air into the case

I have recently bought a computer with amd athlon 2600+. I have found out that amd athlon 2600+ is the equivalent to around 2.1-2.2Ghz.
Dxdiag tells me that my processor is running at; AMD Athlon(tm), MMX, 3DNow, ~1.2GHz. It also sometimes says ~1.3GHz.
I don't understand, did they give my the wrong processor.?

help!
