well i thought i had a 2400+....lol i set my dip settings to 166mhz and the bios to 166 and now it says i have a 2500+ running @ 1.8mhz cool.... but back to the overclocking part, in my bios the only thing i can change is my DRAM clock wich is set @ 166. there is no place in my bios that i can set the multiplier to change the speed.....
is there a windows program that i can use to take the place of the bios...

It would help if we knew the make/model of your board...since you mentioned DIP switches, my guess would be Gigabyte? If you do have a 2500+, your multiplier is locked anyway....if you wanna overclock, increase your FSB. Your PC2700 is gonna hold you back, but you should be able to hit 175-180mhz

If you don't already have it, download & run CPUZ...it will identify your CPU (Barton or Tbred) & will display your current clock settings

my board A7V8X-mX. it seems to be a very good board, i have had no problems with it....
my DRAM clock only has 3 options - 133,166,
and BY SPEED, thats it..if you look up the manual online you will see the setings for the dip switches it only gives 3 options as well- 100, 133, 166, but im sure there are other ways to set the dam things to to go higher but i dont have a clue...lmao

thanks for the help to

I had a quick look at your manual & there doesn't appear to be any overclocking options. That's typical of "value" boards. Looks like you're stuck with your CPU running at it's default speed

It won't be worth the investment. Not only will you need a board, but you'd also need PC3200 RAM...& since the socket A format is dead, they're really no point. You should've gotten a better board & RAM the 1st time around...lol! Stick with what you have for now & save up for an A64 system
