1st of all, no one "NEEDS" to overclock...

Many people have success clocking the 2500+ to 3200+ simply by raising the FSB from 166mhz/333FSB to 200mhz/400FSB.

How about some more info about your rig...what motherboard do you have & what video card? What is it that you're trying to accomplish?

first off not all 2500+ cpus will oc to a 200mhz bus no matter what you do some will not go past a few extra mhz no matter what board you have its the luck of the draw so they say, but generally all bartons are good overclockers but be warned if you dont know what your doing and i see your on Aol which speaks for itself (no offence) then be very careful.

The main reason for my asking this is because the video card i have now doesnt produce a steady 100 FPS which what i need. I have updated all the drivers for my card and the agp on my mobo. Still nothing my rates in game are fine as well.

what about AOL? well if the devil himself wanted to go into business im sure this is the company he would go for, in my early days i have to admit to utter ignorace and choosing AOL as my isp, (i soon chaged that one!) i could go into detail about the problems ive had with their service reps but i dont think my keyboard could handle it, my advice to anyone on AOL change, change now tell them that they can kiss your arse also stop the AOL debits at your bank yourself! never trust them to stop it. If your in the uk go with www.NDO.com i dont know about the US but im sure plugging your modem into saddam husseins rectum would get you a better service than AOL.

im not sure if this a mistake you have made as you said earlier your chip is running at 1.8 which it should be but if its running at 1.10 you must have it setup wrong its supposed to be setup with a fsb of 166 sounds like you have it at 133 or something
there is a jumper on the motherboard to change this or you can go into the bios and change it from there.

also run that PC3200/400mhz ram in sync with your cpu so if your running on the standard bus of 166/333 run the ram at 166/333

Then your FSB is set wrong in either your bios or on a jumper on the mobo. It needs to be aet at 166, yours is set at 100. (Stock voltage setting for 2500+ is arround 11.4) Fix that first and that will probably fix your problems.

100 FPS? What's your current FPS? If it's low, say in 60s, you are not going to reach 100 FPS by overclocking the CPU. Your video card is the limiting factor.

it also really depends on what game you want to get 100fps in. if you want it in quake 3 engine games that shouldnt be a problem as long as you change the max fps in the console. stuff like splinter cell or games like that, you'll be lucky to get 100fps.....
