Hi, this X-mas I am building myself a computer
and I will have a amd xp 2100+ processor. Is
the 2100+ processor equals to a p4 2.1 ghz?
I know amd names them by the pentium processor
they compete against but some I talked to said
the 2100+ is equal to a 1.7 ghz p4. That goes
against all that I've heard about amd processors
and their more efficent capabilies.
Thanks for any replies!

lol

But would the amd 2100+ match the p4 2.1ghz?
I know it depends heavely what other devices
you are running like mobo, ram, hd, ect.

I don’t know much about Intel CPUs but I don’t think there is a P4 2.1GHz.

If you read that article that I referenced in my above post, you’d know that an Athlon XP 2100+ runs neck and neck with a P4 2.2GHz. There are some benchmarks where the Intel chip beat the AMD CPU and vice versa.

Overall, it looks like a draw to me.

Yep. XP2100 runs at roughly 2.2 ghz performance.

It gets confusing. the older p4 (400mhz FSB) will be beaten by it's AMD XP equivalent. The newer p4 with the 533 will beat the AMD XP equivalent.

But it is all about to change again, with the new 64 bit cpus.

The XP2100+ and the P4 2.2 are "comparable" in speed (Provided it's not a P4 2.26/533) but the P4 costs about twice as much.

I love AMD, but that P4 /533is sweeeet!
