Ok, I started here (http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1804). Then I went on to increase the FSB in the bios by 5mhz. The bios showed the FSB at 200mhz. I was able to reach 210 successfully without issues. When I increased it to 215mhz, the system was unstable. So, I took some advice from the site above about increasing the voltage slightly in the memory, then chipset, then cpu core but the system was never able to become stable at 215mhz FSB. My question is ... Am I done overclocking? Is there anything else to adjust to be able to get above 210mhz? I used ClockGen and I've so far been stable at 214mhz on that but that doesnt change the bios settings.

The a64 does not use a FSB like the pentium 4 class cpu`s. Your article was using the p4 for the model. Try to search athlon 64 overclocking as you will need to understand Amd`s bus and how it works. I could tell you what to set but I think from your post you would like to understand what you are doing. Post back if you want actual settings.

You haven't even begun.

What you did was raise the CPU frequency from 200MHz to 215MHz. What you didn't do was adjust all the other frequencies (HT, RAM, PCIe, PCI) to compensate. That's why the system became unstable.

Lower the HT to 4x (800MHz), lower the RAM to 166MHz (333MHz), lock the PCIe x16 at 100MHz, lock the PCI at 33MHz, disable Cool 'n' Quiet, disable all Spread Spectrum settings. After doing that, start raising the CPU frequency in 5-10MHz increments...try to hit 250MHz. A slight CPU voltage increase *may* be required but don't bump it up unless absolutely necessary.

Here are the options in my BiOS under GENiE CONFiG. Which I assume are the only ones I'll use when O'Cing.

DRAM CONFIG
FSB BUS CONFIG
LDT/FSB FREQ RATIO
LDT BUS TRANSFER WIDTH
CPU/FSB FREQ RATIO
PCI EXPRESS RATIO
K8 COOL N' QUIET SUPPORT
CPU VID STARTUP VALUE

CPU VID CONTROL
CPU VID SPECIAL CONTROL
LDT VOLT CONFIG
CHIIPSET VOLT CONFIG
DRAM VOLT CONFIG

In the DRAM CONFIG section I was able to adjust the DRAM to 166MHz. I was not able to find "HT" anywhere in the BiOS. Could this have a different name?

HT (HyperTransport) is the same as LDT (Lightning Data Transport) so check your options for LDT/FSB FREQ RATIO. You should set it to either 4x, x4 or 800MHz, depending on what the choices are.

If you can get the CPU frequency up to 250MHz, the CPU will run at 2.75GHz, the RAM at approx 195MHz & the HT bus at 1000MHz. If it's stable at that speed, see if you can take the CPU freq to 260MHz. That would put the CPU at 2.86GHz, RAM at approx 204MHz & HT/LDT bus at 1040MHz.

I maxed out at 215. I tried increasing voltages but the system never stabilized at anything over 215. I guess there are some conflicts in settings I should tinker with. I just don't want to keep upping voltages anymore.

My comp specs have changed. I previously had 1gb ram and a separate 256mb. Ive now replaced the 256mb with an identical and additional 1gb pc3200 and left out the 256mb since the mobo forces me to use dual channel. I have been now able to O'C to 225FSB. (From 2.2ghz to 2.48)

I did this :
Lower the HT to 4x (800MHz), ock the PCIe x16 at 100MHz, lock the PCI at 33MHz, disable Cool 'n' Quiet, disable all Spread Spectrum settings, when I lower the ram to 166mhz my system crashes. Plus I increased voltages for RAM,CPU, AND LDT up from e.g 1.6 to 1.7 or 2.50 to 2.60 for the ram. What other settings can some one recommend that mess with to o'c some more.
