It doesn't appear that there is a lock

Just a suggestion not sure about you mb so i dont know the bios settings for deffinate.

You can overclock, just dont take the pci/apg bus above 37 mhz or so. sometimes the pci bus is a devider of the front side bus. So see if you have settings like 200/33 then 201/34 202/35 etc... look for the highest fsb speed keeping the pci/agp frequency below 37. might look something like 224/37 for example. But yeah you are limited to what you can do.

No one said you can't overclock, but you will be limited because of the lack of the PCI/AGP lock. You just need to know the limitations. I don't know if your P4 is the 400FSB or 533FSB version, but as long as you keep the FSB between these settings, you won't overclock the PCI bus beyond the recommended safe max of 37.5MHz:

400FSB = 100MHz to 112MHz

533FSB = 133MHz to 150MHz

Its 400FSB, meaning that I won't overclock over 2500MHz, which really isn't worth the trouble...

So there is absolutely no way I can lock the AGP/PCI?

1st of all, if you can raise the FSB to 112MHz & get the system to run stably, the CPU will be at 2688MHz, not 2500MHz.

2nd, FSB is where the performance is, not overall CPU speed. For example...10 x 200MHz is much faster than 20 x 100MHz, even though both settings will run the CPU at 2000MHz.

If your temps are good now, don't worry about cooling. You can't overheat/burnout a P4 because it has thermal protection circuitry built into the CPU.

Make sure the RAM is set to run at a 1:1 ratio (not 1:1.33). Then start raising the FSB 3-5Mhz at a time. Test your system after each change. If it becomes unstable, either back off to the last stable setting, or bump up the CPU voltage a little (0.025v at a time). Chances are, you'll be able to hit 112MHz (448FSB) without a voltage increase...but you won't know for sure until you try

Ok, how do I raise the voltage? I know how to do it from Warpspeeder, but not from the BIOS. About the FSB, I gotta adjust the frequency control? Thats the only adjustable option in the BIOS Settings(regarding to mhz).

Edit:

So I find out that my P4 is actually 533FSB.

*533FSB = 133MHz to 150MHz*

I cant pass over 143MHz, that gives me 2574MHz

System Bus is 572MHz, System Clock is 143MHz and the multiplier 18.0

So, originally it would be 18 x 133, and now it is 18 x 143 right?

Yup, that's right. It could be the RAM is holding you back (I'm guessing you have PC2100) or it could be the CPU needs a little more voltage. I'll take another look at your manual & post back again later

Had a look at the BIOS section of your manual. Unfortunately, your settings are limited & voltage adjustments aren't an option. Looks like your gonna have to live with 143MHz. What the heck, you increased the CPU 180MHz - some people are still running entire systems with slower CPUs than that...lol! And the 10MHz FSB increase should give a slight performance boost. Keep an eye on your temps for a day or 2 just to be on the safe side & if you encounter any problems when stressing the system (gaming for example), you may have to back it down a bit.

You could download & run Stress Prime 2004 to test your settings for stability (Stress Prime is a "friendlier" version of Prime 95). Let it run at least an hour...if there are no problems, your settings should be OK:

Can't lock the AGP/PCI Bus...

So, my top spech P4 2.4GHz @ 2.5GH.....

Funny how I've seen (in overclockers sites) guys getting up to 3GHz, wow...

How sensitive is the FSB? I mean I know it wont show up in benchmarks, but does that 10mhz really effect system preformance? How about say 60mhz increase?
