I own an HP Pavillion a1410n, have had infamous trouble with my CD/DVDW drive is toast and no good any longer; it just decided to go out one day? I've tried all the software upgrades, firmware and all attempts to see if it was just that (a software glitch)? Not sure who is familiar with these CD/DVDW drives, as well as a top notch replacement, though I don't want to spend a fortune? I need a high quality drive, without the high quality rip off or a price too darn high? The drive is by TSST Corp CD/DVDW TS-H552L, which is a Samsung product! So I'd appreciate someone who knows this computer of mine, to feel free and let me know a good Manufacturer Drive that will perform (out perform) very well for it's purpose as a CD/DVDW Burner? Again, I'm looking for great quality, but at a reasonalbe price. Thanks for any input given, as I greatly appreciate it guys, take care and all the best over the week...

Much Peace,
Rich

Almost any burner these days will be OK. Go to Newegg.com and browse thier selection, which is great, and read the customer reviews on any paticular drive you are interested in. I suggest you get a dual layer drive, as the cost isn't much more and they are the newer design. Also that will give you a little better future proofing. Lite-on is a good choice. Pay attention to the color. Many now come with black and beige faces, which are interchangable. Also make sure you get a drive that burns ALL types of media.

I usually go for LG optical drives. The price is pretty cheap and last quite long. My LG CDRW drive was bought back in 2003 january and it has no problems so far...
