Simple, there is no windows 64-bit retail verison and therefore u can't compare it. The beta drivers are messed up and in many spots performance decreases while using 64-bit drivers. The athlon64 FX 51 is all in all just about the same as a p4ee in 32-bit so there isn't even a reason to compare. And its not a question of power but efficency. Clearly the p4ee has more power with its superior mhz and cache size. A p4ee is a Galleon core Xeon which before the p4ee scheme cost around $3000 american.

Another thing to remember is that the AMD 64 chips run super cool, whereas the Pentium, um, doesn't.

If you want the ultimate OC chip, go for the 64, I've seen it used to run full-screen video without a heatsink or fan, it's really quite impressive.

I don't know since I don't own one. But, passing on to what I've read here.

http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=getarticle&number=7&artpage=517&articID=135

It runs cooler because it uses voltage and speed reduction like in mobile laptop. But, it is not cool by any means based on AMD released thermal specification.

As for overclocking, 10% is best it would do.

20 Degrees C..............

You even replied to it.

So tell me how there is only scope for a 10% OC there?

I'd say more like 20%............

Correction, i Meant Galletin Core. And no Athlon64 are not great overclockers because their multiplier is locked, while the on die memory controller gives out very quickly and therefore they do not overclock very much. They are cool though, but because the multiplier can only be lowered it helps with nothing. Lastly mhz is not crap, its just the way that mhz is used in that might be crap. U must understand that a pentium4 has a very long pipe and therefore is a much greater chance of an error occuring causing that cpu to lose all those operations. Of course the longer pipe also allows for higher scalability. As you c its a trade of effeciency against scalability.
