should an oc of 400mhz from 2.8ghz to 3.2ghz make a huge overall performance boost? I have a pentium d duel core 2.8ghz
Well if you game it might, however doing average user tasks such as browsing the web probably won't
I have a Pentium D 925 (3GHz) and my score on Pc Wizard 2007 cpu benchmark is 17000 (rounded) while my friend with a pentium D at 2.8GHz scored 14000 (rounded)
ok i got up to 3.4ghz @ about 70 deg c my windows vista performance score went from 4.7 @stalk to 5.1 @ 3.4ghz i think thats pretty good and games are running at higher fps + higher 3dmark 06 score and pc mark score so i guess that answers my questin
its not going to throttle ive had this thing @79 deg c before and no sines of instability or throttleing its a hot running cpu even at stalk its 60-65 deg c just typing this.
Personally I do not see anything wrong with the CPU running at 70°C, insofar as the throttle threshold is not actuated. Controlling for processor burn, a CPU is normally more than capable of handling computational tasks without buckling even at that temperature & its lifespan is not appreciably diminished.
In most cases where there is fuss about CPU temperature, it is not so much about the CPU not being able to perform at that level but about people being able to feel comfortable with the number being reported. If the figure does not in any way bother you & the CPU isn't throttling - go for it!
