Subject: 3dMark03 poor score?OS: XPCPU/Ram: 1024 |
Comment: I have recently benchmarked my PC after sucessfuly overclocking it to 2.7ghz... Im running a DFi Lanparty ultra SLi Board with an AMD 3000 Winchester 64 Core. My Grahpics card is a 6600 GT, so why am I getting a score of 6561? I used to have a really good tool for my old geforce 5200 that would allow you to change the core and memory speed on the graphics card... any thoughtS?

Reply: (edit)Poor or not depends on your expectation; here is what the card should be getting. http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/gffx/nv43-p22.html#p28

Reply: (edit)Ive got a msi neo2 with a 3200 winnie oc to 2.45ghz and a xfx 6600gt and i nearly get 9500 on 3dmark03 so there has to be something out of line there. All i would suggest is going to guru3d.com and downloading the lates nvidia drivers. I use the modified hd versions there great for image quality. PS the gpu overclocking tool is called coolbits do a google search. Once installed it will modify registy entries restart comp and you will have access to temps, gpu and mem frequencies. just make sure temps dont go too high or ya will get artifacts and possibly a fcuked graphics card ?? Ps i had a simialr effect when oc my winnie over 2.45 ive got pc4000 ram so its running 1/10 devider @ 2.45mhz. But when i used to use the mem deviders like 166 mhz etc.. and took the cpu to 2.6mhz + it hurt my performance and benchmarks badly. so ive kept it the highest clock speed i can without using the mem deviders. hope you get what i mean good luck

Reply: (edit)Did you run 3DMark in the default settings at 1024x768 and without fancy stuff like AA and AF ??? To get comparebale results you need to do it in the default setting. Otherwise the graphic card will have more work to do so you get lower fps readings which results in a much lower score!

Reply: (edit)Just something to think about... You didnt mention if you OCed yout video card or not. I have a 6800GT and if I overclock it too far and it gets too hot it will throttle back and I will get lower scores. not sure if the 6600 does the same thing, but might be something to look into if you are overclocking your video card.
