386 freezes on turbo button.

Specs: PC DOS 6.3, AM386 DX40 / 4MB RAM
I have an old custom built 386 computer and I've been trying to get the turbo function to work properly, but no success thus far. Every time I put turbo on, the system freezes (but not during POST tests) and I can't get any response from the system with the turbo off either (Thankfully, resetting it restores the system's functionality.). I've tried everything I could think of that's available in the BIOS settings, but to no success. Any other suggestions?

Never ran into that particular problem. Don't know for sure if I ever ran that processor either.

So it'll run through post and then lock up? Warm boot with turbo off and it works fine?

Why are you interested in turbo when you're already flying along at 40Mhz...just po'd that it doesn't work?
