Ok, I'm upgrading and decided to go for the biggest size CPU my mobo will handle - P4 3.06 533 FSB - but...I'm having a helluva time locating this processor. Can anyone offer suggestions for alternatives. No, I don't want a 2.8, must be 3.0. No, I don't want an OEM (I've learned the hard way to only buy box sets with the 3 year warranty) Mobo will only go as high as 3.06 and 533 FSB. Will a 3.0 800FSB work? Will that configuration tap out at 533 and the rest goes to waste? Input is appreciated. Thanks...

It might work, as long as you don't mind it running at 2.0GHz...lol

I think you'd be wasting your money. A retail boxed 3.06GHz/533FSB sells for about $280. You can buy a S939 A64 3200+ & a DFI nForce4 board for about $260.
