I just got 2 sticks of pc400 1gig ram to put
in my pc. I originally had a single 512mb
stick. Everything works fine with the 512,
and I can add another 512 from a different
computer to get 1g, but my new ram won't
work. I tried them on a slower mb, and they
worked, so I know they're not bad. Are my
Bios settings off? I checked and my mb model
is supposed to support up to 2g of pc400. I
tried putting in one 1g, 2 1g's, the 512 and
1 1g... all have different outcomes. Most of
the time it will recognize the RAM in the
memory count, then go to the windows xp
loading screen and reset or just keep
loading and never change the screen. I don't
see a brand name on the new RAM. help?

Sounds like you have bad RAM. Try testing the the 1GB sticks individually using memtest86 or memtest86+:

I can't boot up an OS with the new RAM though. I tried booting Linux off of a CD too, but that didn't work either. And if the RAM is working on another system, how could it be bad?

OK, but you said that it goes thru the memory count & begins to load XP, right? You need to run memtest. It's not run from Windows, it's run from a bootable floppy or CD. Simply boot off the floppy & let it run...if errors are displayed, stop the test, remove the RAM, clean the contacts, make sure it's fully seated in it's slot & repeat the test. If errors are found again, the RAM is most likely bad.
If the RAM works OK in another board, it may be that it's not compatible with the KT600A. Possibly a density issue. How long did you run it in the other system? Did you just boot into Windows & shutdown or did you run the PC for a while? If you didn't test it out for a while, you have no way of knowing if it's good or not...it may have eventually caused a blue screen error.
Where did you get the RAM from? And why is there no name? Memory is dirt-cheap right now...even older DDR1 RAM. Frys.com is selling 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR400 brand name RAM (Corsair) for $25 after rebate w/free shipping & it has a lifetime warranty:

BTW, is your AXP 3000+ the 333MHz or 400MHz version. If it's the 333MHz version, you should be running DDR333 RAM, either that or you should underclock your DDR400 RAM to run at 333MHz.
