I have a little older MSI KT3-Ultra 2 mobo. I used to run a 2000+ Athlon on it, had the FSB at 133 and it showed up fine with 1667mhz. Now I tried to upgrade to a Barton 2800+ 333 FSB. First it showed up as a 2200+ with 1667mhz, then I tried to up the FSB in the bios to 166 and at bootup the computer wouldn't even turn the monitor on, I thought I fried the chip, but then I cleared the Cmos and took the battery out and eventually I got it to work again under 100mhz FSB. I went back to 133 and it works fine. I have 640mb of 2100 DDR ram, at 133mhz. Is that the problem? Do I need higher memory? Anything I've tried has brought me back to the monitor not even getting turned on, kinda frightening. I've upgraded the bios, so that's up to date. I have no idea what's going on, can anyone help me with this? Oh and one time I did set it at 166 and it showed up as a 2800 for one moment at the bootup screen but then it wouldn't boot up and I tried restarting it and the computer did the same thing with the monitor not even getting turned on, several times now I had to go back and take the battery out and clear the Cmos until finally it worked again. Please help!!! Thanks so much.

dont try increase the fsb in the bios, because that increases all the other bus speeds to, you have to phisicaly cange some jumpers or dip switches on the board, EG if the jumpers on the board are set to 133mhz and then you increase the fsb in the bios, then the fsb will go up but so will the agp mhz and the pci mhz (EG EG 133 board - Increase in bios to 166 - then agp 74mhz and pci 39mhz wher they should be - agp 66mhz and pci 33mhz) the ram isnt the problem. Change the jumpers on the board. Set it to 166mhz for your prosessor
