Ok. I am debateing what to get. Although I'm fimaliar with computers, I'm not so with overclocking.
I am going to get a barton 2500+ and a Thermalright SP-97 (when they come out) or a aero 7+ to cool it. I am also debateing between a giga-byte "GA-7N400 PRO2" and a A-Bit "AN7", but thats another story.
I currently have 1gig of Corsair pc2700 (don't really want to change this). Although I know that not all 2500+'s OC the same, but what would be the best I could get with my pc2700 ram? I've heard you're suppose to match the bus speeds, and I belive my pc2700 is 333mhz. I was also wondering what temps are "optimal" for the cpu. I could overclock my memory a bit, i believe also. Would this help me?
Any help on this, or on my motherboard decision would be greatly appreacaited.

Make that Crucial, not Corsair RAM....Can't believe I got that wrong, but you gotta admitt the names are close :)

I don't know if you can OC your ram to 400 with 1:1 ratio. If you use 5:4 or 3:2, your memory bandwidth won't increase. So I think when your ram quits before you reach 3200+, you should consider get some DDR400 or DDR433 memory. BTW, new Bartons have their multi locked by AMD, so you can only OC by increasing FSB if you have such a chip.

Yea, I heard something about the newer ones being locked. I will be buying it within a week or so. Is there anyway to tell if I'm getting a locked one before I buy them? I'll prob by it from tigerdirect.com or newegg, which should have fresh batches since they move so much inventory :(
What is the best I'd be able to get with a locked one? Also, is there anyway to unlock it?
Thanks for the reply, btw

How far you can go depends on things like memory speed/quality, motherboard capabillities/chipsets and blind dumb luck.
Last I heard, no one had found a way to unlock the multis yet.Skip

Well my memory speed should be 333Mhz. It's Crucial RAM, so it's also good quality. It has 2.5 CAS, which isn't the best, but I believe is still pretty good.
I just remember seeing that you are suppose to match ur cpu fsb to ur ram's fsb or something like that. I was just wondering if that was correct...and what speed's I should be looking to get
