2500 oc messed up the mobo

i over clock my 2500 by fsb and then it ran for a while then shut off and then come bak till i got a new mobo it messed upthe mobo why and can i stop that? i had stock fan, but it only gave 39 C so that was good i heard it have to be under 60 c. how can i fix it?
