I'm looking to overclock my system, but 1st i want to get my system watercooled for best perfomance.

This will be my 1st water-cooling rig.

After a bit of research, I'm considering 2 rigs, the Corsair Cool although i prefer all components to be inside my case, or Swiftech.

I primarily need to cool my CPU and GPU, possibly expansion for the chipset later when i upgrade the mobo.

1st question: The Corsair cool does not yet support a GPU, if i bought a seperate block, could both blocks run from the single radiator, or would i need an additional radiator? Can anybody recommend a good GPU block to suit 3/8in tube?

2nd Question: I like the look of the swiftech rigs but the fill and bleed assembly really puts me off. Would it be possible to replace this with a standard bay reservoir?

Pentium 4 3.2ghz
Corsier 1 Gig TwinX Matched PC3200 DDR400 2-2-2-5
Radeon 9800 Pro
MSI 848P Neo

Thanks))

"I primarily need to cool my CPU and GPU"

Wrong...you primarily need to cool everything inside your case. You will only do that with proper airflow.

Water cooling can do a good job of cooling your cpu, gpu or any other chip but without proper airflow (fans), everything else will just sit there and cook.

Just want to give ya something to think about.

I've gotten some flack in the past for saying this, but I think watercooling is a waste of time & money. Do the best you can with aircooling & be done with it.

Jam, you always oppose and are critical of modding, suped-up high-end expensive systems, water-cooling, eyecandy, cathode-lights soforth and ect. you need to realize that and accept this is a hoppy and a past-time for most of us. it may not be all that necessary, but it makes us feel good with a since of awe, in which we can show it off and have pride in. I dont see how your reply has anything to do with, concerning the qeustions asked.

Here quantum, people like us can appreciate this kind of work, enjoy!! ;-)

Skipcox: Yes, I'm well aware of cooling my case, I have no problem with this.

Jam, I sorry, i have to agree with Galileo, watercooling really gets me going, and i can't wait to get started))

There is also a very practical reason for me going this route: I work extensively on my PC - Autocad, Viz render 3dMAX and Gaming, and after a good days work the fans in my machine give me a good damn headache, and drive me up the wall!!!

Watercooling should provide me with a very quiet, cool machine)

Oh, and your link Galileo, that rig is only but the stuff of dreams my friend))

Sorry, but I like to get the most bang for my buck & I don't particularly care if my rig is pretty or not. I try to milk the most outta my system(s), but I wanna do it without pushing so hard that I have to go to extremes to get it to run stable. If I'm gonna sink $200 or more into a system "improvement", it had better improve performance. It's not gonna be on something that will only give minimum gains & require added maintenance.

"Watercooling should provide me with a very quiet, cool machine"

This is a misnomer. Watercooled rigs generally don't run all that much cooler than good air cooled rigs. And you still need case fans & a fan on the radiator, so they're not always any quieter either. If you're gonna have water blocks on the CPU, GPU, & eventually the chipset, you'll have a mess of tubes & wires everywhere...plus you want ALL the components inside the case?

Good luck....

Hey lazyman,

How ya doing? I knew you'd turn up sooner or later...lol

I had already read your review of the Cooler Master, but that's the 1st time I saw the fan noise article. Nice work! ;)

Jam,
Thanks.

I hope the articles help clearing up the myth of sound and overclocking.

Still have two W/C systems running ;) It's like running a car with carburetor requiring a lot of maintenance; a good hobby. I have nothing against it.

I still like fuel injection - as to good air-cooling rig.:)
