Hi,

I started studying computer hardware in February this year. I bought a PC
at a computer fair and couldn't get past a bios password. I removed battery
to reset BIOS and now I get an error when I start the computer:

1962 - Boot Sequence Error

I have spent several hours on this and can't find a solution. Can anyone
help?

Dominic

(Computer is IBM 300 GL - 6282)

The boot sequence is the order in which the computer looks for an operating system to load. Usually it should look at the floppy and CDROM before the first harddrive

You will have to go into the setup program and set the sequence order. Floppy, HDD, and cd rom drive. check the IBM website for instructions on the setup program.

What if the computer isn't detecting the CDROM? I've replaced both the scsi cable and the cdrom.

Note: Same type of computer with same problem.

Check the jumpers on your hard drive. Make sure your HD is enable as the second boot device. First disable it and then try to enable it again, just to make sure that BIOS recognises it.
