Comment: i have a MSI K7n420 mobo...and amd 1800+ xp processor. in the bios there are a ton of frequency/voltage settings...i can make it goto 1600 but setting it to some freq. there is about 7 more after that setting, but everytime i try that, the computer won't start i'm guessing it requires more voltage, but i didn't want to mess with it without getitn some of your expert advice. all/any help is appreciated. also i have a onboard NVIDIA geforce 2...how can i crank up performance for that as well (i know it won't be hardware, so any recomended software?)..thanx a lot --PZB

Reply: (edit)your 1800+ (1.53ghz) wants to go to 1.8ghz? sure some overclocking allows you to go higher and boot, but just because it boots doesnt mean its stable, run a game for a long time (Quake3 is good for this), but without some water cooling and some chip multiplier unlocking you wont get your 1800+ to be 1.8ghz

Reply: (edit)you kan sloiwly crack up your voltage but becarefull. i have an AMD 800MHZ and without extra cooling i managed to get 1000MHz out of it. I only changed the multiplyer and the voltages. to give you an idea: core voltage from 1.6V tot 1.775V I/O voltage from 3.3 tot 3.5V an always run soms programs to check the temperatures. my cpu does not go higher than 48°C, so give it a try. but don't push it
