looking for anyone with a a7v8x and a xp2000+.
I can only get a stable 12.5x141...it's driving me insane. Upping my mult only decreases (only slightly) my speed. I think the ddr400 memory might have screwed me with this board...any opinions or advice?

Hello,
what you need to do is lower your multi and raise your FSB .. Then see what you can get.?
slowly increase your FSB and test it every time with a test program like Prime95 or even play a demanding game for a while..But in order to make it stable you need to raise your Vcore .. but keep an eye on your temps ..

1. Change the CPU Speed to "MANUAL"
2. If you didn't unlock your CPU (pencil trick), changing the multiplier will have no effect. You can change the CPU Multiple Frequency to whatever you want, but when you reboot, it'll revert back to 12.5x.
3. When changing the CPU External Frequency, make sure to keep the 2nd number (PCI speed) below 38mhz. I'm not sure what settings you have available...I'm sure there are 100/33, 133/33, 166/33 settings. Apparently there are other settings as well? I'm guessing that you currently have it set at 141/35? Raise the FSB in increments, 3-5mhz at a time, rebooting & testing after each change.
4. Keep your Memory Frequency on "AUTO"
5. Change the CPU Vcore Setting from "AUTO" to "MANUAL", then try raising the CPU voltage. It should be at 1.75v by default, try it at 1.80v or 1.85v to help stabilize your overclocking efforts. There's an "OVER_VOLT" jumper near the CPU that may need to be changed...by default, it's set at "DISABLE"
6. Don't tweak your RAM timings...keep the SDRAM Configuration set at "BY SPD"
7. Set the Graphics Aperture Size to 128MB

Im not sure what the pal core can handle. How much can you raise your vcore to?Ive found mine doesnt like a vcore above 1.8.Ive had mine as high as 185/12.5 vcore 1.850, but as I said, it isnt keen on such a high vcore, so for stability reasons(and to make sure I dont kill it), I stick to 175/12.5 vcore 1.750.With my chip, theres an idle temp difference of 10'c just with the vcore increase of 0.100.(vcore 1.750 29'c-33-c idle, vcore 1.850 40'c-45'c idle). Both were pretty similar under stress though, about 50'c-52'c.

You're gonna need 1.9v+ I reckon to get much over 1700MHz from a palomino, best I managed was 1827 2.2v, and even that only was booted to windows and locked soon after a screenshot.
The highest pally OC ive seen is 2100 or so on LN2 cooling.
1.85v may get you 1800 if you've got one of the best ones.
