Ok, I have a 1.33 Tr-bird w/ a k7s5a mobo. now the 1.33 won't run at it's rated speed but it will run at 1000. i keep getting errors and my comp crashes when it's set on 1.3, now I've ben reading some forums, and seen some people with the same prob. they got bios updates and it got fixed, well, I've never done a BIOS update befroe and people keep telling me I could screw up my computer by doing it! can someone plese just tell me ow todo it?? or send a link ??? and where can i find the upddate?>??? please someone help!..

before doing the BIOS thing
it sounds likeyou have the FSB set at 100 instead of 133.
if I remember correctly a 1.33 runs at
133X10
check your manual on setting the proper fsb
a lot of them come set to 100 at default from the factory

after reading this again I see my error
what memory are you using??
with 133 FSB you need either 133ram or 2100ddr
BIOS updates are available from the MOBO manufact. website specific to your MOBO
they also usually come with detailed instructions. They come in ZIP format and need to be expanded onto a bootable floppy.
read the readme file and follow all instructions carefully. You normally boot with the floppy disk and the Comp.reads the disk and starts the BIOS upgrade program. When during the process it asks if you wish to safe the old BIOS say "yes" just in case.read all the messages before you push a key.
Make sure that no one shuts the power down during this process all else is pretty well automatic and not that hard to do.Once done reboot and re-enter the BIOS and setup "BIOS defaults" reboot again and check .Good Luck

yes the fsb is set at 100, but when i et it for 133 (x 10) in about 2 hours or less, i get a bluie screen, about the bios stuff, what's flashing??? everyone keeps teling me "becarful when flashing"....

I have the same motherboard combo. I also had the same problem! :)
Get Pc2100 or PC-133 ram installed.
Remove the cpu cooler, install a thermaltake 6cu+ install it with artic silver themal compound.Poof, all problems went away. The standard heat sink/fan combo is not good enough.
Love my K7S5A
Runs 3990 mips with 98se recently reformated with XP and NTFS file system
runs 4092 mips with XP-pro!!

Huummmnn.
I am running a TBird 1.33
256mb PC-133 ram
ATI Rage 32mb video
350 watt Enermax powersupply.
(you have 300+ PS ?)
My bios date is 08/27/2001-SMy problem was related to heat. After installing the new heat-sink and artic silver thermal comound, this thing has run like a dream.
George

Your problem is your memory that not support FSB 133MHZ. You need to change the RAM. There is nothing with your bios upgrade! It's only the memory.
