100% usage avp.exe?

Specs: Microsoft Windows XP Professional, 2.399 GHz / 2046 MB
To get rid of viruses, I wiped the hard drive, reset the Bios, reloaded XP, and various programs. Now , although Kaspersky finds no virus or trojans in its scans, I still have times when the CPU usage goes to 100% for no apparent reason. I've made changes (took a picture off as desktop background, disabled Last.FM, disabled Kaspersky), each of which seems to temporarily improve things, but soon I'm back to 100% usage. It's sound similar to the problems reported by JuMpMaN23 back in October 2007, but I imagine the viruses, trojans, and fixes have changed since then.
I have a HiJack log when you are ready.

Dump Kaspersky & replace it with something other than McAfee or Norton:
