Right, here goes:

I live in a block of flats where each room has an ethernet port and access to the network and internet, i have no other options for internet access as I cannot install my own phone line, so i'm having to make do.

My problem is, the network I am connected to does not allow ICMP so therefore my Xbox 360 will not connect to Xbox Live, i do however have access to a socks5 proxy with open ICMP (via VPN - although that isn't so much of an issue), but proxies cannot be used directly by the Xbox 360, so i need to turn my computer into some sort of gateway between the Xbox and the open Socks proxy.

I have tried the obvious, windows ICS, but this will not allow me to assign a proxy, i have also tried setting a system-wide proxy so all traffic goes through it but it doesn't seem to have worked, any help on this would be great if possible?

So i have been thinking, is there any way I can do this?

My thoughts so far, although these solutions may not exist, are as follows:

1) Have some sort of virtual network adapter (NIC) which allows all data to go through the proxy, which could then be bridged with the computers second ethernet port and connected to the xbox 360, creating the illusion of an open network connection

2) Some how manage to assign a true system wide proxy so windows ICS could go through the proxy

3) Some sort of router with the ability to connect to VPN and proxy which could then give the illusion of an open network connection...

An help on this situation will be really greatly appreciated as i've been on days and it's really bugging me now..

The only option i see if i cannot get this workig is to set up a VPN on a laptop at my parent's house with no proxy so i could connect to and share the vpn through ICS, which would allow me to connect.. this would however mean leaving te laptop on 24/7 and would be a pain to set up in th first place as i live quite a while away..

So basically what i want to do is get an open Socks5 proxy to appear as an open network connection to my Xbox, as xboxs cannot connect to proxies
