I've seen many people on the internet with the same problem. I just got high-speed internet, and I want to connect my Wii (and DS)to it. Thing is, I don't have a wireless router. I want to fool the Wii into thinking my wireless card on my laptop is an access point. Or somehow otherwise connect it. I've read about people changing the IP address and stuff on the wii and it not working.

Honestly, the best thing for you to do would be to just get a wireless router or just the network adapter for your Laptop. they don't cost much. When I bought my Wii I just went out and got a Linksys router, cost me $70 and has been extremely useful. I have never heard of someone making their wireless card show as an access point. But, if this is possible I would like to know.
PC1:
- Asus M2V-MX SE
- Athlon 64 4200+ X2 @ 2.2GHz
- 1GB DDR2 @ 667MHz
- nVidia GeForce 8500GT 512MB OC @ 729/932MHzPC2:
- Core2Duo Laptop/1GB DDR2

Well, it seems like I solved this ages ago... I bought a nintendo wifi connector. It's a softAP, and I sort of solved the problem of wanting to use adhoc networks with other laptops when the wifi adaptor is stealing ICS by plugging in my modem via ethernet AND USB, then bridging the networks.
I was looking through my old posts... man I was stupid... Anyway, ya might as well visit: http://www.tcentertainment.webs.com
