Ps2 crashes in middile of games

hi my Ps2 will crash in middle of games. i shows a black screen and sometimes the bgm is still heard.my cats started a nice hole on the red cord but it dosent affet it becose its not needed for my tv.i looked and thay havent done that to the outer ones.any clues one whats happening?also for no resone the controler will do the same freeze than crash the controler is a Logitech Cordless Action. anyone who has had this before or is my Ps2 truly from Hell?
