Id like to mod my ps1. But there aren’t any suppliers of reasonably priced chips around any more. There aren’t any resources on how to do it your self either. I've been googling the idea for like a week now and all I’ve found so far is several ways to install “preflashed” PIC's and some chip that's $40ish that works for the PS2 also.
Any help?
If its possible, id like to use TTL, regardless of size/complexity because...
A): I all ready have LOT'S of 74's
B): I don't have any MCU programmers
C): TTL is fun <|:^)D): Has a TTL modchip been done?
Other wise, I’d like to find a 3-10 $ (US) pre-made cheep.... err chip.
I do have a few used microcontrollers that I salvaged…um let me just…ok I found them.
A Winbound W78C32BP-40
An Intel P8039HL (from 1977)
An Intel N80C196KC16Since their ROM less/external ROM I think with a salvaged EEPROM or a UV-EPROM and one of these I could make a mod chip that may work. I would have to make or get a programmer but I have wanted to get into MCU’s a little any way. I could also try to find more, but its not so much the chips them selves as it is the datasheets that are hard to get.
Any way, that’s my story. Any help would be nice.

you are on the wrong site for your question however good try. start out by googling for some ps1 modding site forums. i lost contact with all of those modding sites in the last few years as i gave up console gaming.
