Hi there, here is my current setup...
1 x Xbox360 with external 1tb hdd (containing movies etc...) connected to a wireless router.
2 x wireless laptops
The xbox is working fine as a media server and it can access the files on the laptops, but I can't manage to acess the external drive on the xbox from the laptops.... any help would be greatly appreciated!!

What file format is the external drive formatted under NTFS? If it is, then you need to format it to FAT32 in order for the Xbox 360 to read the files on your external hard drive.
Iron Sharpens Iron.

The xbox reads the hdd fine. Just can't access the xbox hdd or the external drive (which is connected to the xbox) from the laptops

Ok so this is a problem with you wanting to get access to the xbox 360 from the laptops?
Try the following for windows xp based pc's.

Thanks but the article only covered LAPTOP ---> XBOX, I want LAPTOP <----> XBOX which doesn't seem to be so straight forward. I can see the media files from my laptop on the xbox but I can't even ping the xbox's fixed IP adress from my laptop!
