so basically youre asking whats the difference between a full hd tv and a full hd monitor?

well in my opinion i prefer using a tv for what it is, a tv.
only connections i have on my hd tv is my verizon fios box, my bluray player, and surround sound. my ps3 is connected to my monitor using an hdmi cable while my pc is connected through vga cable and of course a set of computer speakers.

since full hd tvs these days are costly, full hd monitors are half the price. some monitors come with 80hertz+ and/or 80000:1 contrast ratio, etc.

monitors are pretty much optimized for video gaming.
